CHAPTER 1: The Return of the Pharaoh
The sun had come up once more in Domino city. Domino High School class had started once more and a young boy looked out the window miserably. He was new to Domino city; he wasn’t born here.
His colorful hair of pink, black, and blond bangs shifted with him. The only difference between he and his grandfather was his midnight blue eyes and the bits of black that shuffled in his bangs.
So far, he concluded that he didn’t like it here in Domino and wished that his father was here with him. But, he knew that could never happen; he was dead. He just couldn’t believe that his own mother had given up on him and had said she didn’t want to be his caretaker.
So now, alone and confused, he had to live with his grandfather.
It was his first day at Domino High, and so far he had only been picked on. It wasn’t his fault that he was so short. It was all his fathers fault… maybe even his grandpa’s. I mean, he was taller then his father and grandfather… and they were adults! He did get a little height from his mother’s side… but that changed little.
Yugo sighed and shifted so that his head rested in the flesh of his palm.
“Moto,” the teacher called. No answer. The boy sat, daydreaming in his seat.
“Oh yes, Mrs. Quested.” Yugo berthed, his heart racing as he watched his teacher cross her arms.
“Yugo, it’s your first day in this class. So how about you try listening so you may understand where we are at?” she explained coldly. Yugo took in a sharp breath of air.
“Sorry, Mrs. Quested.” Yugo murmured, lowering himself in his seat.
* * *
“Damn, one more reason to hate this place,” Yugo muttered distastefully as he walked to his new home.
“First dad dies, mom suddenly hates me, then I’m sent to live with my grandfather that hasn’t seen me in years, and then to a dumb school.” Yugo moaned to himself, he really didn’t feel good.
“Well, easteast I’ve got my cards to depend on.” Yugo whispered to himself as he pulled out his Duel Monsters.
Duel monster wasn’t that much of a game any more, only the best of the best played anymore… but his grandfather had given him the cards, and he wasn’t about to discard them like they were nothing.
“It’s hard to believe that Grandpa was the King of Games…” Yugo mused with a smirk, as his home loomed into view.
He slowly opened the front door to the house.
“At least he doesn’t live at that idiot game shop like he did when he was younger.” He muttered with a shake of his head.
“Grandpa Yugi? Grandpa, are you home yet?” Yugo called through the house. No answer.
“Still at the shop I suppose,” so Yugo decided to relax in the living room until Grandpa came home to have dinner.
“No friends, no real familat cat cares. Okay, well Grandpa Yugi cares… but he’s the only one. Life’s going down hill and it’s a damn bumpy ride. Anything else you want to thrown at me God?” Yugo asked, looking up to the heavens. But, while looking up he noticed something on a bookshelf.
“Hun. What the…?” Yugo muttered, eyeing the golden box that sat, half hidden on the very top shelf.
“That’s weird. I’ve never seen anything like it before.” He debated a moment, before deciding to investigate.
“Damnit, I can’t reach it!” Yugo mumbled.
“But I felt so drawn to it…” So Yugo scowered the room for anything that could aid him.
He found a chair and pulled it over to the bookshelf and climbed up.
“It looks Egyptian,” Yugo informed himself, blowing the dust from the cover of the golden box.
“Wish I could read this,” he sighed, before clambering down and taking a seat at the table.
He lightly shook the box, surprised to hear that there were several pieces inside. Yugo set the box on the table gently, careful not to damage it further.
“Now, how to open it…” he muttered, determined to see what was inside.
He ran his fingers over the edge of the box, feeling the coolness of the gold. He was extremely surprised when it opened from his touch.
“Okay, now that’s a little odd.” Yugo laughed nervously, peering curiously into the box.
“A puzzle?” Yugo exclaimed dryly.
“Oh and I though it was something good too. Why would it be a puzzle if it came from Egypt? I don’t think they had puzzles back then…” He explained quietly.
But, as he was bored and still waiting for his grandfather, Yugo decided to put the puzzle together and see what it formed.
After nearly and hour or guesswork and frustration, Yugo sat back, amazed at his work.
“Wow, I can’t believe I knew where all the pieces went.” he mumbled looking at the time.
“Grandpa should be home any minute!” He exclaimed, fixating the very last piece into the puzzle, but something strange happened. The puzzle began to glow.
“Ah!” Yugo cried, jumping behind the loveseat that was situated on the other side of the room. The light became blinding, and then suddenly, it stopped.
Yami slowly looked around.
‘This isn’t home? Where’s Yugi?’ he thought, confus/P>

Yugo slowly looked over the edge of the loveseat and gasped at what he saw.
“No,” He manged to say finally. Yami, now utterly confused looked the young boy over.
“This is so weird,” Yugo muttered standing. “You look like me… except for the eyes.” Yugo said, looking Yami over. Yami blankly looked on.
“If you are not Yugi, then who are you?” Yami asked.
“I’m Yugo, Yugi is my Grandfather,” Yugo said, rubbing his eyes furiously.
“Great. I’m talking to someone, or something that came out of a puzzle.” Yugo mumbled to himself.
“Grandfather? How long have I been in the puzzle…” Yami stopped, noticing something different about himself. He laughed, causing Yugo to jump.
“I’m flesh and blood. I have a body!” Yami cried. Yugo sighed, exasperated.
“Nut,” Yugo mumbled backing away. Yami quieted, and turned swiftly to Yugo. Then, both boys looked up when the front door opened.
